His wealth of experience in banking spans over 25 years. A multi-tasked, self-motivated and proactive player, Mr. Otoo comes into his job with excellent administrative and interpersonal skills, having worked in many banks in Ghana.
Mr. Otoo has an LLB degree from Mountcrest University College (affiliate of KNUST) and will be graduating with LLM (Masters in Law) degree from the University of Ghana later this year. Mr. Otoo is an ADR professional with an Executive Masters in ADR from the Gamey & Gamey and the Pulse Institute in Virgin Islands.
He also has an MBA (Strategic Management) from the Paris Graduate School of Management and a Chartered Banker. He is a fellow of the Institute of Financial Services UK, fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana and a Fellow of the Institute of Professional Managers – UK. Mr. Otoo attended Adisadel College in Cape Coast where he obtained his Ordinary and Advanced Level School Certificate.
Until his appointment with FirsTrust Savings and Loans in June 2017, Mr. Otoo had since 2012 worked at The Royal Bank as the Deputy Managing Director. From January 2010 –July 2012, he was the General Manager of 1st National Savings and Loans, now GN Bank. From July 2007 – December 2009, worked at HFC Bank Limited as the General Manager – Banking Operations. From January 2005 to May 2007, Mr. Otoo worked at SG-SSB Limited, where he was the Head of Risk Management Department.
For 17 years, he worked with Merchant Bank (Ghana) Limited in various capacities. From 1999 – 2004, he was the Regional Manger, Ashanti Region and from January 1996 to June 1999, the Head of Corporate Banking. Mr. Charles Otoo occupied various positions from January 1996 to June 1999 whilst at Merchant Bank (Ghana) Limited. He headed the Corporate Business Development Department and the Training Development. He was also Account Relationship Manager.
From 1982 – 1989, Mr. Otoo worked at Barclays Bank Ghana Limited as Inspector at the Bank’s headquarters in Accra. Around this same period, he worked as a lecturer at the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB), and also a Chief Examiner of International Trade Finance.
As a great team player, innovative and a self-starter, Charles is expected to bring his wide background knowledge in banking principles and structure to help grow FirsTrust which is fast gaining grounds in the Ghanaian economy as the Ideal way of banking.
